This dismissal occurred on the last ball of the innings at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, leading to significant criticism on social media. In a challenging season where he has accumulated only 106 runs in nine innings at an average of 13.25, Pant opted to bat at No. 7 against Delhi, marking the first instance in nine years that he has batted at this position or lower in his T20 career, the last occurrence being in IPL 2016 when he did so twice. Pant's dismissal came on the second ball of his innings as he attempted a daring switch hit against Mukesh Kumar, who responded with a fuller delivery around the leg stump.
