The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declined to dispatch the team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, and following the directive from the International Cricket Council (ICC), India's matches have been relocated to Dubai.
Pakistan will participate in the tournament as the reigning champions, having last won the event in 2017 in England.
"It is a significant moment for Pakistan, as we are hosting a major ICC event after almost 29 years," stated Sharif.

Sharif conveyed his enthusiasm regarding the opportunity to host the Champions Trophy in Pakistan after a span of 29 years. He expressed his delight at the newly renovated stadium and enhanced facilities, noting that the venue now embodies the fervor of Pakistan's cricketing culture.
"I am fully confident that our team will continue to bring pride to the nation during the forthcoming Champions Trophy."
The inauguration ceremony was graced by several distinguished individuals, including politicians, government officials, representatives from the PCB, members of the national men's cricket team, PSL franchise owners, and former PCB chairmen Zaka Ashraf and Najam Sethi.
During the event, celebrated artists Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig entertained the audience, which was followed by an impressive fireworks display, an energetic drum performance, and a captivating light show.
