PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, has recently entered into a multi-year partnership with PUMA India, assuming the role of brand ambassador. In celebration of this significant milestone, the company altered the spelling of its brand signage in several stores to read ‘PVMA’, prompting speculation regarding a potential typographical error.

One fan took to X, previously known as Twitter, to post a photograph of a store and inquired, “I just saw this PUMA store with the incorrect spelling?? Who is responsible for this?”

To the fan's astonishment, Sindhu responded, “I did.”

Following the signing of the agreement, PUMA will not only introduce products tailored specifically for Sindhu but will also unveil a specialized high-performance line designed for badminton players, which will include footwear, accessories, and apparel. In her remarks regarding the partnership, Sindhu expressed, “Badminton has served as a platform for my growth and self-discovery, and through this collaboration, I aspire to motivate others, particularly women, to embrace challenges, have faith in themselves, and strive for greater achievements.”

In addition to Sindhu, PUMA's roster features prominent athletes such as Harmanpreet Kaur, Mohammed Shami, Mary Kom, Usain Bolt, and Neymar Jr.

At 29 years of age, Sindhu stands as the first and only Indian to achieve the title of badminton world champion and is only the second individual from India to secure two consecutive Olympic medals. She reached a career-high ranking of No. 2 in 2017.

Throughout her career, she has earned five medals at the BWF World Championships, including a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics and a bronze in Tokyo. She also claimed her inaugural superseries title at the 2016 China Open and triumphed at the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals.

Sindhu is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, having secured three consecutive singles medals at the event, along with a silver at the Asian Games and two bronze medals at the Uber Cup. Furthermore, she has been featured in Forbes’ list of highest-paid female athletes in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Her accolades also include the Arjuna Award, Khel Ratna Award, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri Awards.
