The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is poised to lodge a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) following the dismissal of the board chairman Mohsin Naqvi's concerns regarding the oversight of PCB CEO and Champions Trophy tournament director Sumair Ahmed Syed during the closing ceremony of the tournament held on Sunday in Dubai.

With Naqvi absent from the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium, Sumair was designated to represent the PCB at the closing ceremony. However, the ICC failed to acknowledge him during the trophy presentation. BCCI president Roger Binny awarded the white jackets to the Indian players and presented medals to the match officials, while ICC chairman Jay Shah handed the trophy to captain Rohit Sharma and distributed medals to the victorious team. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and New Zealand Cricket's CEO Roger Twose were also in attendance on stage.

As reported by PTI, a PCB source indicated that Naqvi was dissatisfied with the ICC's rationale for excluding Sumair from the presentation ceremony.

"The ICC reportedly stated that it had made arrangements for Mohsin Naqvi to be present on stage, and upon his absence for the final, they altered their plans," the source revealed.

PCB notes ICC made number of errors during CT 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed its discontent with the International Cricket Council (ICC), citing a series of errors made during the Champions Trophy 2025. Among these missteps was the omission of Pakistan's name from the Champions Trophy logo during the live broadcast of the match between India and Bangladesh, as well as the unintended playing of the Indian national anthem during the Australia versus England match held in Lahore.

In response, the ICC acknowledged the logo issue, explaining that the alteration was made due to the logo's length. They also attributed the premature playing of the Indian anthem to a playlist mix-up, which was promptly corrected.

In the meantime, the PCB chairman extended his gratitude to his team, law enforcement agencies, provincial governments, ICC officials, and the visiting teams for their contributions to the tournament's success. He remarked on social media, "Your dedication and collaborative efforts ensured the smooth execution of this prestigious tournament. Pakistan takes great pride in hosting the Champions Trophy and delivering an exceptional experience for cricket enthusiasts around the globe."
