PCB Sends Legal Notice to Corbin Bosch After Choosing IPL Over PSL
15 hours ago | 5 Views
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a legal notice to South African fast bowler Corbin Bosch, accusing him of violating his contractual obligations to the board concerning the Pakistan Super League (PSL). A franchise in the T20 tournament had acquired the services of the pacer, who was subsequently selected as a replacement player by the Mumbai Indians for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Bosch's selection by the Mumbai Indians necessitated his withdrawal from the PSL agreement to participate in the IPL, a decision that has displeased the PCB. Consequently, the board has requested that Corbin Bosch explain his actions.
It is important to note that the PSL and IPL are scheduled to overlap this year, as both tournaments will take place concurrently.
The IPL 2025 season is set to commence on March 22 and conclude on May 25, 2025, while the PSL 2025 will start on April 11, with its final match planned for May 18.
Previously, the 30-year-old Bosch was selected by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the PSL Player Draft's tenth edition, which took place in Lahore on January 13.
According to an official statement from the PCB, "The legal notice was delivered through his agent, and the player has been requested to account for his decision to withdraw from his professional and contractual obligations."
The PCB management has also detailed the potential consequences of his exit from the league and anticipates his response within the designated timeframe. The board has indicated that it will refrain from making any further comments on the situation.
Corbin Bosch replaces Lizaad Williams
Recently, South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams was sidelined from the forthcoming 18th edition of the IPL due to an injury. In response, the Mumbai Indians have signed his fellow countryman, Corbin Bosch, as his replacement.
Bosch, a bowling all-rounder, has represented South Africa in one Test match and two One Day Internationals, in addition to participating in 86 T20 matches. He made his international debut in December and was subsequently included in the Proteas' 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy, stepping in for the injured Anrich Nortje.
To date, Bosch has not made his IPL debut. He was previously associated with the Rajasthan Royals as a net bowler and was signed by the franchise in 2022 to replace Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile.
