Pakistan bowler Aamir Jamal is in hot water after being slapped with a hefty fine of PKR 1.4 million for breaching the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) rules. This disciplinary action was triggered by Jamal’s choice to write '804' on his Test cap, which many interpreted as a political gesture supporting former cricketer and ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated.

According to Samaa TV, several players faced penalties from the PCB for violating the board’s code of conduct, but Jamal received the harshest punishment. The number '804' is thought to signify Imran Khan’s prison ID, and his show of support prompted the PCB to take a firm stance against him.

The governing body ruled that players should not mix politics with the game, which ultimately led to Jamal being left out of Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Other Players Were Also Punished

Jamal wasn't the only cricketer to get into trouble. A few other players from Pakistan, like Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, and Abdullah Shafique, were each hit with a fine of PKR 500,000 for showing up late during last year's tour of Australia. On top of that, Sufiyan Muqeem, Abbas Afridi, and Usman Khan were fined $200 each for similar violations of team rules during the recent tour of South Africa.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is serious about keeping discipline in the team, emphasizing that cricket should stay clear of political statements.

On a different note, Pakistan had a rough comeback on Sunday, suffering a lopsided loss to New Zealand in the first T20I. The batting lineup fell apart against the Kiwi bowlers, with the team getting bowled out for just 91 runs in 18.4 overs, marking their fifth-lowest score in T20 internationals.

New Zealand easily chased down that target, scoring 92 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 10.1 overs, with Tim Seifert contributing 44 runs off 29 balls and Finn Allen adding 29 runs from 17 balls.
