The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is really concerned about a security incident that happened during the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 match between New Zealand and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. A fan managed to get onto the field and attempted to hug New Zealand's all-rounder, Rachin Ravindra.

The PCB confirmed that the person responsible was arrested and appeared in court the following day. They've also been banned from all cricket venues in Pakistan.

This is a big deal since it's been 29 years since Pakistan hosted an ICC event. During the match, a spectator slipped past security, which has led to a lot of criticism for the PCB.

In an official statement, the PCB said, "We take this security breach very seriously. The safety of our players and officials is our highest priority. We are working closely with local security agencies to boost security around the field and improve access control at all venues."

The statement also mentioned that the individual was arrested and brought to court on Tuesday, and he will not be allowed to enter any cricket venues in Pakistan again.

The PCB mentioned that they’re collaborating with security agencies to strengthen security measures and aim to avoid similar incidents down the line.

In their statement, they noted, "We’re teaming up with security agencies and venue officials to assess and enhance security protocols to prevent future occurrences."

On Monday in Rawalpindi, New Zealand triumphed over Bangladesh by five wickets, which officially eliminated the defending champions, Pakistan, from the eight-team tournament.

Pakistan had previously lost to both New Zealand and India.

India and New Zealand have secured their spots in the semi-finals from Group A.
