PCB Confirms UAE as Neutral Venue for India's Matches in Champions Trophy 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be the neutral location for all of India's matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy, effectively resolving the ongoing dispute between the PCB and BCCI.

India had previously told the ICC that the team, led by Rohit Sharma, wouldn't be traveling to Pakistan for the eight-team ODI tournament due to security issues. This decision left the PCB feeling let down, and at one point, they even considered withdrawing from the tournament. However, the BCCI received solid support from the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the unrest in Islamabad earlier this month.

On Thursday, the ICC confirmed that the 2025 Champions Trophy will follow a hybrid model, meaning India will play all their matches at a neutral venue, including the semifinals and finals if they qualify.

“UAE was chosen as the venue after PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Emirates Cricket Board chairman Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan," said PCB spokesman Amir Mir in a statement on Sunday.

Mir added that the PCB has “informed the ICC” about this decision.

Is Dubai going to host India's games?

PCB's announcement didn't specify the exact locations for the games in the UAE, but Dubai is seen as the most likely spot.

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, India is set to face Pakistan on February 23, which falls on a Sunday. In India's group, they'll also compete against Bangladesh and New Zealand. The Men in Blue will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 and then take on the Kiwis on March 2. Meanwhile, defending champions Pakistan will start their journey against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi, followed by their second match in Rawalpindi on February 27.

The second group will include Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa. All matches, except for India's, will be held in three cities: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
