PBKS Troll LSG & Rishabh Pant with ‘Tension Toh Auction Mein…’ After Dominant Win!

Punjab Kings added an entertaining twist to their impressive victory over Lucknow Super Giants by posting a playful video on social media featuring their captain, Shreyas Iyer. The clip displayed Iyer striking various poses, radiating confidence following PBKS's eight-wicket triumph. However, it was the accompanying caption that truly captured my attention.

"Tension toh auction me hi khatm ho gayi thi," which translates to "The tension ended in the auction," appeared to be a subtle jab at LSG captain Rishabh Pant.

This remark likely references a previous interview in which Pant expressed that his primary concern leading up to the IPL 2025 auction was whether the Punjab Kings would place a bid for him.

"I only had one worry, and that was Punjab (laughs). They had the largest budget. When Shreyas joined Punjab, I thought I might end up at LSG. There was a chance. But with auctions, you can never be certain, so I decided to wait and see, keeping my fingers crossed," Pant shared with Star Sports prior to the season.

In light of PBKS's decisive win over his team, the post quickly gained traction, with fans viewing it as a clever retort to Pant’s earlier comments.

Watch:

Pursuing a target of 172 on a challenging pitch with unpredictable bounce, PBKS capitalized on Prabhsimran Singh’s remarkable innings of 69 runs off just 34 balls. His explosive performance included nine fours and three sixes, enabling the team to establish a strong position within the first ten overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer then sealed the victory with a steady 52 not out from 30 deliveries, leading PBKS to triumph in only 16.2 overs.

Conversely, LSG faced difficulties right from the start. Their powerplay was particularly poor, leaving them at 39 for 3 after the first six overs. Arshdeep Singh emerged as the main threat, claiming the wicket of Mitchell Marsh for a duck in the opening over. Although Aiden Markram showed some potential, he fell victim to a delivery from Lockie Ferguson, while Rishabh Pant had another disappointing performance, scoring just two runs after misplaying a short ball from Glenn Maxwell, which was caught by Yuzvendra Chahal.

With Mayank Yadav out indefinitely and lead spinner Ravi Bishnoi struggling, LSG's bowling deficiencies were once again highlighted. Shardul Thakur, who was initially unsold in the auction before being acquired later, along with the inconsistent Avesh Khan, failed to deliver crucial breakthroughs. Prabhsimran capitalized on this, aggressively attacking the pace bowlers and leaving LSG searching for solutions.

Although Nicholas Pooran (44 off 30) and Ayush Badoni (41 off 33) provided some resistance, their contributions were insufficient to set a competitive total. Abdul Samad's rapid 27 runs off 12 balls helped push the score beyond 170, but PBKS had already taken command of the match.
