Olivier Giroud's LA Home Burglarized, $500K in Jewelry and Watches Stolen

India, Feb. 19 -- Olivier Giroud, the former striker for Arsenal and Chelsea, encountered unfortunate events at his residence in Los Angeles earlier this month. The French international relocated to LA following his transfer to Los Angeles FC. At the age of 38, he became the victim of a burglary, during which approximately $500,000 worth of jewellery was reportedly taken from his home.
As reported by ESPN, Giroud and his family were not present when intruders entered the property by breaking a window, subsequently stealing jewellery and various items, including ten luxury watches.
On February 5, Giroud's wife alerted authorities to the break-in after noticing the damaged window.
The Los Angeles Police Department informed TMZ that the investigation is ongoing, although no arrests have yet been made.
According to the Associated Press, LAFC spokesperson Seth Burton refrained from commenting on behalf of Giroud and the club, other than to confirm the occurrence of the burglary.
Notable athletes such as Joe Burrow, quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, Ty Jerome, guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Antonio Hamilton, cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, have also experienced similar burglaries recently, with some incidents coinciding with their participation in nationally televised games.
Giroud, who previously played for Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan, and was part of the French team that won the 2018 World Cup, joined LAFC last year.
Despite a disappointing last season in which he scored no goals and provided three assists in ten matches (seven of which were starts), LAFC managed to secure the US Open Cup title, even without Giroud's contributions at his peak performance.
He is widely recognized for his impressive six-year tenure at Arsenal from 2012 to 2018, followed by three years each at Chelsea and Milan. Throughout his club career, he has netted 285 goals in 716 appearances and has amassed numerous trophies, including a Champions League title with Chelsea three years ago.
The top goal-scoring scorer in French football history will look to take over the goal-scoring charts in the MLS next season.
