Novak Djokovic is on the hunt for his record-breaking 11th Australian Open title and is gearing up to take on Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round this Sunday in Melbourne. The World No. 7 kicked off his Australian Open journey with an exciting victory over 19-year-old Indian-American Nishesh Basavareddy in the first round, followed by another solid performance against Portugal's Jaime Faria in the second round. By the third round, Djokovic was in top form, easily defeating Tomas Machac.

After his match with Machac, Djokovic suggested that tennis should add some mid-match entertainment like other sports do, believing it could help both fans and players unwind. This came after a heated moment with a fan, where he admitted that he sometimes gets frustrated by the crowd.

In a rather unusual suggestion, he proposed that organizers bring in dancers to engage with the audience. "We should definitely try to connect more with younger fans. I’d love to see more entertainment. For instance, why not do something fun between sets like they do at the Super Bowl or in the NBA?"

When there's a timeout, they bring in dancers and all that. Honestly, I wouldn't mind it at all. Having some nice dancers around for a few extra minutes would help me chill out and take my mind off things. I think it could add a fun twist and some entertainment to tennis, which can be pretty traditional and a bit conservative at times, he mentioned.

On another note, he subtly critiqued Wimbledon’s traditions, hinting that the iconic tournament might not be open to such changes.

"As for Wimbledon, I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s so special with its all-white dress code and strawberries and cream; it’s just classy and elegant. But for the other tournaments, like the US Open, you guys know how to do entertainment in the States. I’m all for it, maybe just some gradual changes. Start with the dancers," he said.

Djokovic had a rough 2024 season, not clinching any Grand Slam titles and dropping in the rankings. However, he did snag Olympic gold in Paris, beating Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles final.
