Djokovic secured his place in this stage by defeating Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). In contrast, Alcaraz advanced due to a walkover, as Jack Draper retired after the second set, with Alcaraz leading 7-5, 6-1.

The two players have met on seven occasions, with Alcaraz currently holding a slight edge at 4-3. Notably, all their previous encounters have occurred in either semi-finals or finals of ATP Tour and Olympic tournaments. Their first clash took place during the semi-finals of the 2022 Madrid Masters, where Alcaraz emerged victorious.
