Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, are currently facing challenges due to injuries, and the team is awaiting updates on the status of pacers Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan. The uncertainty surrounding their availability for the tournament has disrupted the team's strategic plans. In light of this, Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed has disclosed that LSG reached out to him to inquire about his availability for the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Taskin, who delivered standout performances for Bangladesh during the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, mentioned that the franchise sought to know if he could secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

It is noteworthy that no players from Bangladesh have been selected by any of the ten franchises for IPL 2025, which is set to commence on March 22. Taskin Ahmed has yet to participate in an IPL match.

"The inquiry was made because no Bangladeshi player was chosen during the mega auction. In major tournaments, many players are often brought in as replacements. Lucknow reached out to me regarding this matter," Taskin Ahmed informed reporters, as reported by India Today.

"They wanted to know if I was available, as they were considering me as a potential replacement if necessary. They were verifying whether I could obtain an NOC if called upon as a replacement. If I receive a call from any team, I hope to secure the NOC this time," he added.

'There shouldn't be any issues with NOC'

Taskin Ahmed, 29, expressed confidence in obtaining the NOC from the BCB, but emphasized that the franchise must reach out to him first.

"If they require my services, that is the initial step. If they are in need of a player and I am available, then the NOC request will be taken into account. I have already communicated with the board. If I receive a call, I anticipate no difficulties with the NOC, based on our prior discussions," Taskin stated.

"The priority is to receive that call. If I am chosen, I am optimistic about securing the NOC. According to my conversations with the board, I do not foresee any issues with the NOC this year," he further remarked.

Regarding the pace bowlers in the LSG lineup, Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Shamar Joseph are among the alternatives. Additionally, Shardul Thakur is likely to be named as a replacement player by the franchise, as he has been training with the team.

LSG is set to commence their IPL 2025 season on Monday against the Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
