Nicholas Pooran’s Knock Crushes SRH’s Hopes, Kavya Maran’s Reactions Go Viral

Kavya Maran, the owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has become a familiar sight on social media, with her reactions before, during, and after SRH matches often going viral. As a passionate franchise owner, she openly displays her emotions, making it easy to gauge the team's performance just by observing her. This trend continued in IPL 2025, where Kavya was overjoyed when Ishan Kishan scored his first IPL century, leading SRH to a victorious start in the 18th season. However, the narrative took a sharp turn during SRH's second match against the Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.

While there were indeed fireworks, they were not the kind typically associated with SRH's batting lineup. The team has set a high standard for scoring, particularly at their home ground, the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, where a run rate of 9.5 per over is considered "slow." This expectation became evident when LSG took to the crease, successfully chasing down SRH's target of 191 runs in just 16.1 overs, with five wickets remaining, thanks to the explosive performances of Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh.

Kavya, who is accustomed to witnessing sixes from players like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen, found herself disheartened as her bowlers faced a similar onslaught from Pooran. The powerful West Indies batsman effectively sealed the match during the powerplay, scoring a remarkable 70 runs off just 26 balls, which included six sixes and as many fours. Even SRH's captain Pat Cummins and seasoned pacer Mohammed Shami struggled to counter the barrage.

Throughout Pooran's assault on the SRH bowlers, cameras consistently captured Kavya's reactions. With her hands on her head and a look of despair etched on her face, she appeared utterly dejected. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh continued to apply pressure from the other end, making a significant impact as an Impact Player by scoring 52 runs off 31 balls, further exacerbating Kavya's distress.

Nicholas Pooran hammers SRH to lead LSG to easy win

Mohammed Shami dismissed Aiden Markram at mid-off with his fourth delivery during Lucknow's run-chase, setting the stage for a rapid 116-run partnership between Pooran and Marsh, achieved in just 43 balls.

Pooran reached his half-century in a mere 18 balls, hitting a six off Adam Zampa as Lucknow raced to 96-1 within the first seven overs.

Hyderabad's captain, Pat Cummins, bowled Pooran leg before wicket with a full delivery from around the wicket, shortly before Marsh secured his own fifty with consecutive boundaries against Cummins.

Marsh was dismissed soon after, caught at long-on off Cummins' bowling. Pant (15) edged a catch to short third man, while Ayush Badoni was spectacularly caught by Harshal Patel, who sprinted from mid-wicket to execute a remarkable diving catch.

Abdul Samad displayed urgency, smashing two sixes and two fours in a brisk 22 runs off just eight balls, leading Lucknow to their first victory after a loss to the Delhi Capitals in their opening match.
