Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is confident that Virat Kohli will continue to play for an additional two to three years following his impressive century against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match held in Dubai on February 23. Kohli made a remarkable return to form during this pivotal encounter, leading India to successfully chase down the target of 242 runs. He reached the century mark with a boundary, which not only secured India's victory but also ensured their place in the semi-finals.

Having faced challenges in recent matches, Kohli took control of the game early on, showcasing his skill with a series of cover drives that boosted his confidence against the Pakistani bowlers.

Sidhu praised Kohli's resilience, asserting that his outstanding performance against Pakistan convinced him that Kohli would undoubtedly add another 10 to 15 centuries to his career total.

“Character is not forged in a crisis; it is revealed. This is a man (Virat Kohli) of exceptional talent and fervor. Following this century, I can assert with certainty that he will play for the next two to three years and achieve another 10 to 15 hundreds. You can take my word for it. The true measure of a player is how they navigate through challenging times and embrace adversity. Over the past six months, he has faced numerous challenges, yet he chose the perfect moment to shine. His runs against Pakistan will be remembered for a decade,” Sidhu remarked on JioStar Network.

Kohli struck seven boundaries during his unbeaten 100 off 111 balls, effectively rotating the strike to apply pressure on the Pakistani fielders throughout the innings. In achieving his 51st ODI century, Kohli also became the third player in international cricket history to surpass 14,000 runs in ODIs.

‘Virat Kohli’s trademark is his cover drive': Sidhu

Sidhu elaborated on Kohli's exceptional cover drive, noting that he executed a few early in the innings. This served as a clear indication of his return to form.

"When evaluating Virat Kohli, what stands out as his signature shot? For instance, Sachin Tendulkar was renowned for his back foot punch, while Gavaskar was famous for his straight drive. In the case of Virat Kohli, it is undoubtedly the cover drive. When he positions his head correctly over the ball and executes the cover drive with finesse, it signals that he has regained his form. Observing the early stages of his innings and these particular drives, it becomes evident that this is the Virat Kohli we have come to know," he remarked.
