Lucknow: Bowling those toe-crushing yorkers takes both speed and precision. In India, Jasprit Bumrah has really nailed this skill and is currently the best in the game. On Tuesday night, Mukesh Kumar from Delhi Capitals showed his fans that he can also deliver when the moment calls for it, just like he did against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Even though he conceded 12 runs in his first over, which included a boundary and a six from Aiden Markram, Kumar made a fantastic comeback. He caught the well-set Mitchell Marsh off guard with a perfect yorker that knocked the off-stump. That wicket was a turning point for DC, as LSG crumbled under the pressure and managed to score only 156/6. In response, DC successfully chased down the target in just 17.5 overs, winning by eight wickets.

Now, about that delivery that got Marsh out — even he seemed stunned by how perfectly it was executed. The ball dipped at the last moment, slipped under the bat as it descended, and smashed into the base of the off-stump. It was a delivery that would have made Bumrah or even Waqar Younis proud.

In the last over, after conceding three boundaries in a row, Kumar took down Ayush Badoni and LSG captain Rishabh Pant, achieving his best season stats of 4/33. He bowled full and straight to both batsmen to get the results he wanted, earning him the Player of the Match title. Kumar was visibly thrilled, expressing how he found the right line when his team needed it the most. 'I really enjoyed bowling on this pitch.

Before my second over, I spoke with the other bowlers, and they mentioned it was stopping a bit, so I tried to mix things up,' he shared post-match. He also emphasized the importance of communicating with the skipper about his strategies, whether it’s slower balls or yorkers, noting that getting Mitchell Marsh out was a key moment for the team. DC opener Abhishek Porel, who scored a crucial half-century against LSG, praised Kumar for his precise bowling, saying, 'Mukesh is someone who relies on his strengths.

He’s incredibly dedicated and puts in a lot of effort during practice, especially on his yorkers.' Kumar, who has been with DC for the last three seasons, has taken nine wickets in eight matches this season, and this standout performance should boost his confidence for upcoming games.
