Mohammed Siraj, the fast bowler for Gujarat Titans, made waves on social media with his 'calma' celebration after taking out Mumbai Indians' Rohit Sharma during their IPL 2025 match in Ahmedabad. This moment quickly fueled speculation, with fans linking it to his exclusion from the Champions Trophy squad, dubbing it "revenge served hot."

Recently ranked as the No. 1 ODI bowler, Siraj was left out of the Champions Trophy team because selectors felt he struggled with the old ball compared to the new one. They believed that, without Jasprit Bumrah, the team needed a fast bowler who could perform well in both situations, leading to Arshdeep Singh being chosen over Siraj.

More than two months after that decision, which Rohit explained during a press conference when the squad was announced, Siraj faced off against the India captain in their IPL 2025 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium. After conceding a couple of boundaries, Siraj managed to outsmart the 37-year-old with a clever nip-backer that knocked the bails off.

When Siraj celebrated with the 'calma' gesture after the wicket, fans interpreted it as a form of "revenge" for the Champions Trophy snub, showcasing his undeniable skill.

Mohammed Siraj finally speaks out about being left out of the Champions Trophy

Earlier this month, just before Gujarat's IPL 2025 opener against Punjab Kings, Siraj shared his thoughts on not being selected for the ICC tournament, where India claimed the title by defeating New Zealand in the final.

"Selection is out of my control. All I have is a cricket ball, and I want to make the most of it. I prefer not to stress about selection; my priority is to concentrate on my performance," Siraj told PTI.

He also mentioned that his attention is now on the Asia Cup and the upcoming tour of England this year.

"Sure, as a player, the England tour and the Asia Cup are in the back of your mind, but I don’t dwell on it too much. My main focus is on the IPL and performing well for Gujarat Titans to help them secure another IPL title," he said.
