Mirra Andreeva has made a name for herself as a serious contender right now, not just in the future, by defeating some of the world's top players, including World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, to clinch the title at Indian Wells on Sunday. Besides receiving a shoutout from basketball superstar LeBron James and her impressive performance, another highlight from her journey was her notebook, which first caught attention during her semi-final match against second seed Iga Swiatek.

She pulled it out after dropping the second set to Swiatek, and it seemed to help her, especially as Swiatek had a dramatic meltdown in the final set, even hitting a ball towards a ball kid. Andreeva ultimately triumphed with a score of 7-6, 1-6, 6-3. The notebook is filled with handwritten notes about her opponents, and she frequently flips through it during changeovers.

Tennis commentator Bastien Fachan on X referred to the notebook as a “Death Note.” He expressed his fascination with a shot of the 17-year-old flipping through her high-school-style notebook, revealing the names of all the players she’s taken down at Indian Wells.

Footage aired on Tennis Channel showed a screen labeled “INDIAN WELLS Rybakina,” highlighting Andreeva's impressive victory over seventh seed Elena Rybakina in the third round. With this win, Andreeva secured her second Masters 1000 title of the year, bringing her season record to 19-3, making her the woman with the most wins on tour.

In a nod to her victory speech in Dubai, where she quoted rapper Snoop Dogg's words upon receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Andreeva addressed the audience on Sunday, saying, “I want to thank myself again for fighting until the end, for always believing in me, and for never giving up.”

“I felt like I was running like a rabbit today,” Andreeva added, acknowledging the speed of Sabalenka's shots. “It was tough to keep up, so I just gave it my all, and that’s why I want to thank myself, because I think I played a part in the win too,” she remarked.
