Lionel Messi demonstrated that he is far from finished as he showcased his remarkable skills during Inter Miami's match against Atlanta United, scoring a stunning goal that propelled his team to a 2-1 victory. After fully recovering from an injury, Messi started the match and quickly made a significant impact. The visiting team found themselves trailing 0-1 after Atlanta netted a goal in the 11th minute. Taking matters into his own hands, Messi skillfully lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to score Miami's equalizer.

Prior to this match, Messi had missed three games due to muscle fatigue but made a brief appearance off the bench in a 2-0 victory against Cavalier FC of Jamaica on Thursday night. On Monday, he appeared sharp and intercepted the ball just outside the penalty area, evading a defender before expertly chipping the ball into the net, reminiscent of his illustrious days at FC Barcelona.

This match marked Lionel Messi's second start for Inter Miami, which had already participated in eight games due to the Concacaf Champions Cup. 

In a thrilling conclusion, Fafa Picault netted a late goal in the final moments, securing a 2-1 victory for Miami and positioning them at the top of the Eastern Conference early in the season with three wins out of four matches.

Both teams created numerous opportunities to score in the second half, but it was Picault, with an unexpected header, who ultimately determined the outcome. 

Jordi Alba received the ball wide from a late short corner and delivered an outswinging cross to the back post. Picault outmaneuvered Ajani Fortune and directed a header that bounced back across the goal, catching Guzan off guard and finding the far left corner. This marked Picault's first goal for his sixth MLS team, having joined Miami from Vancouver during the offseason.

Messi will now have sufficient time to rest and regain his full fitness ahead of Inter Miami's upcoming match against the Philadelphia Union on March 29.
