Mayank Yadav's Injury Woes Continue: Set to Miss England Series
3 months ago | 5 Views
Young fast bowler Mayank Yadav is anticipated to be unavailable for the England series as he has not yet fully recovered from the back injury that has sidelined him since October. Mayank made a remarkable entry into international cricket following a standout IPL season, where he showcased his exceptional speed while representing the Lucknow Super Giants. Unfortunately, a series of injuries have hindered his progress, causing him to miss a significant portion of both the IPL and domestic seasons, and now they threaten to impede his international career as well.
Mayank made a notable debut on the international stage against Bangladesh, where he claimed four wickets across three matches. However, following the T20I series, he experienced renewed discomfort in his back, which led to his absence from the tour of South Africa.
As reported by the Times of India, Mayank, who was unable to participate in Delhi's Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, is also expected to be ruled out of the England series due to ongoing fitness issues.
"He is dealing with a back injury and is unlikely to be fit for the England series. He has not been included in the list of probables for Delhi's first Ranji match of the second leg against Saurashtra starting January 23," a source from the BCCI informed TOI.
The young paceman has already missed the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, placing him in the unfortunate category of players prone to injuries.
Mayank Yadav was retained by LSG for a whopping INR 11 crore
Mayak experienced a significant boost in confidence during the IPL retention period, as LSG re-signed him for an impressive INR 11 crore. Although an injury curtailed his season after just four dynamic matches in IPL 2024, his remarkable speed made a lasting impression on the Lucknow franchise, which opted not to risk losing him in the auction. In addition to retaining Nicholas Pooran and Ravi Bishnoi, they also kept uncapped talents Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni for the upcoming season. Furthermore, they bolstered their roster by acquiring Rishabh Pant, Akash Deep, and David Miller during the auction. Ultimately, the Lucknow franchise concluded their IPL 2024 campaign in 7th place, accumulating 14 points from seven victories out of 14 matches.
