Max Verstappen making 5 million more than Lewis Hamilton: What are the earnings of F1 drivers in 2025?

The 2025 Formula One season is set to commence next month, with Australia hosting the inaugural Grand Prix of the new year. Max Verstappen dominated the previous season, securing his fourth consecutive Drivers' Championship title, overcoming a late challenge from McLaren's Lando Norris.
As the new season approaches, Verstappen is aware that he will encounter formidable competition from Lewis Hamilton, who has transitioned to Ferrari.
Entering the season, Verstappen's earnings are estimated at approximately 65 million dollars, while Hamilton's reported income stands at around 60 million dollars. Charles Leclerc ranks third in terms of earnings, receiving about 34 million dollars, and will be partnering with Hamilton as his new teammate.
Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris each earn 20 million dollars annually, both under contract until 2026. George Russell of Mercedes commands a significant salary of 15 million dollars per season, while Carlos Sainz from Williams is set to earn 10 million dollars each year until 2027. Additionally, Pierre Gasly of Alpine and his teammate Alex Albon receive 8 million dollars annually.
Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon each receive an annual salary of 7 million dollars, while Oscar Piastri earns 6 million dollars per season. In contrast, Lance Stroll's earnings amount to 3 million dollars, and Yuki Tsunoda receives 2 million dollars. Additionally, Liam Lawson, who is Verstappen's new teammate, is compensated with 1 million dollars per year.
In a separate discussion, Bernie Ecclestone expressed his belief that Lewis Hamilton may not have a long tenure at Ferrari. In an interview with The Telegraph, he remarked, "I do not believe Lewis will receive the same level of attention at Ferrari."
"To begin with, the team is satisfied with Charles Leclerc, his current teammate. Leclerc communicates effectively with them, so they will prioritize his needs. Even if Lewis performs admirably, he will likely face considerable opposition due to his sudden arrival. I have a theory regarding this matter. It is not merely the age of the drivers that matters, but rather the duration for which they have been engaged in the same role. I have observed that Lewis seems to be growing weary and has possibly lost some motivation. Had he never secured a world championship, the situation might be different, as there would be a greater incentive to strive for one. However, he has already achieved seven championships."
