For MS Dhoni, age doesn’t really matter when it comes to his passion for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Even though he stepped back from international cricket almost six years ago, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend is all in when it comes to staying fit for the demanding league, dedicating months to intense training to be ready for the matches.

With CSK keeping him on board for the IPL 2025 auction, the 43-year-old Dhoni has shown his unwavering commitment to the team he has guided to five IPL championships.

At Garuda Aerospace's 'Ascend' event, where the Amaran Drone and Land Mine Detection Drone were launched, Dhoni shared his thoughts on the struggle to stay in shape for the tournament.

"I only play a few months each year, but I want to enjoy it like I did when I first started, and that’s what motivates me," Dhoni mentioned.

"However, to do that, I have to put in a ton of effort for six to eight months because the IPL is one of the toughest competitions out there. Nobody really cares about your age; if you're competing at this level, you need to keep up with the standards."

Dhoni's journey has been quite the adventure

Dhoni has always viewed cricket as a blend of passion and national pride. Coming from a state that wasn’t exactly a cricket hotspot, he faced a tough journey to reach the top. His main drive was to represent India on the world stage.

"When I first stepped into international cricket, my biggest motivation was to represent my country," Dhoni shared.

"It’s always been about the country for me. Given my background from a place not known for cricket, when I finally got my shot, I was eager to contribute. I wanted to be part of a winning team, striving to win every game and tackle those big tournaments and series."

Even though his international career is behind him, Dhoni’s passion for the game is still strong. "Now that I’ve retired from international cricket, I can’t say it’s the same, but for me, it’s all about the love for the sport now," he confessed.
