MS Dhoni in Politics? Shukla Reveals Shocking Talk of Lok Sabha Run

Despite having retired from international cricket for some time, MS Dhoni remains the most celebrated cricketer in India and arguably across the globe. For contemporary fans, Dhoni's stature surpasses that of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson. Under his leadership, India secured victories in the 2007 World T20, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy, making him the only captain to have triumphed in three distinct ICC limited-overs tournaments.

Fans have been taken aback by the fact that the 43-year-old has not ventured into politics. Although there have been speculations in the past, they were dismissed as unfounded rumors since no concrete actions followed. This may also be attributed to his ongoing IPL career, as he continues to play for the Chennai Super Kings. While he may not hold the title of captain, his influence within the team remains significant.

Dhoni's reluctance to enter the political arena may stem from his preference for a low-profile lifestyle. It is widely acknowledged by former players and teammates that he does not possess a personal mobile phone, and any attempts to reach him must go through his agent first.

BCCI vice-president spills the beans on MS Dhoni and politics

BCCI Vice-President Discusses MS Dhoni's Potential in Politics

Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently shared insights regarding MS Dhoni's potential as a politician. In an interview with BeerBiceps on YouTube, he expressed his belief that Dhoni possesses the qualities necessary to excel in the political arena.

“I believe Dhoni could pursue a career in politics,” he stated.

“It ultimately depends on his decision whether to enter politics. I have always thought that Sourav would engage in Bengal politics, and I see similar potential in Dhoni. His popularity would likely ensure a successful campaign.”

Shukla further mentioned an intriguing exchange he had with Dhoni when there were speculations about the cricketer contesting in elections. “I once inquired if he was planning to run for a Lok Sabha seat, to which he firmly replied, ‘No, no, no,’” he recounted.

In discussing Dhoni's reluctance to engage in politics, Shukla highlighted his preference for privacy. “He has a tendency to remain out of the spotlight; he doesn’t even carry a mobile phone. It was challenging for the BCCI selectors to reach him due to this,” he noted.

“It is simply his nature to distance himself from fame or public attention.

“He is not a recluse; he approaches matters with seriousness and does not take them lightly,” he added.

At 43 years of age, Dhoni has been retained by the Chennai Super Kings and is set to return for IPL 2025. He has yet to announce his retirement from the IPL, making any potential political aspirations a consideration for the future.
