Under the leadership of Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals have made an impressive beginning in the IPL 2025 season, securing victories in their first two matches against the Lucknow Super Giants and SunRisers Hyderabad. Their next challenge will be at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where they are set to compete against the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. Prior to this significant match, Axar Patel discussed the influence of MS Dhoni on his career trajectory.

The clash between Delhi Capitals and CSK will take place in the 18th edition of the lucrative league on Saturday at Chepauk. In anticipation of the game, DC released a video on social media featuring Axar, who shared how the former Indian captain reached out to him following India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025.

The all-rounder recounted a conversation with Dhoni during the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE, noting that their discussions significantly impacted his international cricket career.

"I share a strong bond with Mahi bhai. When he was leading the Indian team, I often confided in him. After the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, I received a message from him. Additionally, during the 2021 T20 World Cup, he served as our mentor," Axar explained.

"I discussed my mindset with him, and the results are evident now. Mahi Bhai deserves credit for the positive changes I've experienced. He humorously mentioned that my planets were misaligned (laughs). Sometimes you face a good delivery, or other unexpected events occur. He advised me to perform certain rituals to rectify this," he added.

CSK in desperate need of a win

The Chennai Super Kings are in urgent need of a victory following consecutive defeats to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

In both matches, CSK's batting strategy faced intense criticism as the team struggled to meet the required targets. Additionally, MS Dhoni's batting order has come under scrutiny, particularly after he batted at No. 9 against RCB.

The team made adjustments in their approach against RR, allowing Dhoni to bat at No. 7. Despite this change, he and Ravindra Jadeja were unable to secure a win, with CSK falling short by six runs.

Conversely, the Delhi Capitals have demonstrated strong cohesion, delivering impressive performances. In their match against SunRisers Hyderabad, Mitchell Starc excelled with five wickets, and the Delhi Capitals comfortably chased down the target.

Currently, the Delhi Capitals hold the second position in the standings, while CSK finds itself struggling in eighth place.
