MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir were among the distinguished guests at the wedding of Rishabh Pant’s sister, held in Mussoorie earlier this week. The former Indian captain, Dhoni, was spotted enjoying the festivities by dancing and singing. On Wednesday, a photograph of Dhoni and Gambhir together sparked considerable excitement on social media.

Both Dhoni and Gambhir played pivotal roles in India's remarkable victory in the 2011 World Cup final, and they were captured in a touching photograph alongside the newlyweds. This image, taken by photojournalist Pallav Paliwal, quickly became popular online.

Although they were long-time teammates in the Indian cricket team, there has often been speculation regarding their relationship, particularly due to Gambhir's remarks about contributions during the 2011 World Cup. Consequently, fans expressed their joy at seeing the two legends together in the photograph.

In the 2011 World Cup final, Dhoni delivered an exceptional performance, remaining not out with a score of 91 runs, while Gambhir contributed 97 runs, leading India to a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka and securing the prestigious trophy. Dhoni concluded his international career in 2020, whereas Gambhir took on the role of head coach for the team last year, successfully leading India to victory in the Champions Trophy just the previous week.

This triumph marked India's first ICC ODI title since the 2013 Champions Trophy, during which Dhoni was the captain.

Dhoni sings along

A video from the wedding has emerged, featuring Dhoni enjoying the Bollywood classic, Tu Jaane Na. Accompanied by his wife, Sakshi, Dhoni engaged the audience in a sing-along of the popular song from Ranbir Kapoor's film, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

Dhoni arrived in Mussoorie on Tuesday morning, while Gambhir joined the celebrations the following day. The festivities featured several former cricketers, including Suresh Raina. Videos of Dhoni and Raina celebrating with Pant were widely circulated on social media earlier.

Following the wedding, Dhoni plans to head to Chennai to participate in the Chennai Super Kings' preparations for IPL 2025. In contrast, Gambhir is likely to take a break from the IPL and is expected to travel with the India ‘A’ team to England for a three-match series. His objective is to assess the playing conditions and evaluate the team's depth ahead of India's five-Test series against England, which begins on June 20.
