28 days ago | 5 Views
In a pivotal IPL 2025 match between the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium, Hardik Pandya encountered an injury scare during his initial over. After delivering just his second ball, he hobbled during his follow-through and immediately grasped his ankle.
This incident caused a temporary halt in the game as the Mumbai Indians' physiotherapist came onto the field to evaluate the situation. Hardik bowled a slower delivery to Abhishek Sharma, and it seemed that the ball had slipped from his grip, prompting him to clutch his left ankle, indicating a potential injury.
Hardik's demeanor clearly reflected the impact of the injury. He grimaced in pain and ultimately required strapping for his left ankle. Nevertheless, demonstrating his resilience, Hardik persisted with his over despite the evident discomfort.
Remarkably, he made an immediate impact on the very next delivery, securing a crucial wicket right after the injury. With the Mumbai Indians in dire need of a breakthrough, Hardik bowled a short, slower ball to Abhishek Sharma, who attempted to play aggressively and reached for the delivery outside off.
The young SRH batsman, aiming to accelerate the scoring, sliced the ball towards sweeper cover, where Raj Bawa executed a fantastic dive to take a superb low catch. Abhishek, who had been performing well with a score of 40 off 28 balls, was dismissed, and Hardik delivered the much-needed breakthrough for the Mumbai Indians.

In a significant match at the Wankhede Stadium, MI won the toss and chose to bowl first against SRH. Currently, Hardik's team occupies the seventh position in the standings, having secured two victories and suffered four defeats in their six matches. Meanwhile, SRH is positioned slightly lower in ninth place, also with two wins and four losses. MI's superior net run rate gives them an edge, but both teams recognize the importance of this match in maintaining their chances for a playoff spot.
During the toss, Hardik provided an update on star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, assuring fans of his fitness and readiness to compete. "He (Bumrah) is fine. There is no need for concern regarding Jasprit Bumrah; if he were unfit, he wouldn't be here," Pandya stated.
