Lionel Messi Faces Off Against Off-Field Rival Logan Paul: 'I Might Withdraw the Lawsuit'

Logan Paul, a prominent YouTube personality who has transitioned into professional wrestling, has issued a challenge to football icon Lionel Messi, alleging that Messi has imitated his energy drink brand. As the Argentine captain approaches the twilight of his football career and embarks on an entrepreneurial path following his transfer to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, tensions have escalated.

Messi, a record-holder with eight Ballon d'Or awards, launched the Mas+ energy drink last year after relocating to the United States. Paul expressed his dissatisfaction with Messi's entry into the market, claiming that the Inter Miami player has copied the concept of a hydration beverage. Paul, along with KSI, co-owns the brand 'Prime,' which has gained significant popularity among youth globally in recent years.

The situation has intensified, with Paul filing a lawsuit against Messi's energy drink brand to protect his company's trademark. In response, Messi's brand distributor initiated legal action against PRIME in October 2024, alleging anti-competitive behavior.

As Paul prepares for his upcoming match at WrestleMania, he reiterated his criticism of the football star, asserting that the countersuit filed by his company is unjust.

"You all copied us, and it was evident. Your products are nearly identical to Prime, and then you took legal action against us, which is unfair. That’s why we decided to countersue; it was inevitable. If you cannot surpass the best, you must emulate them, but that is unlawful. We are defending our design," Paul remarked in a video.

He has extended an invitation to Messi for a match in the wrestling ring.

"I would genuinely contemplate dropping the lawsuit if a Logan Paul versus Messi fight were to occur. See you in the ring, bro," Paul concluded.

Lionel Messi expected to play in 2026 World Cup

Messi has conveyed his aspiration to participate in the 2026 World Cup; however, Argentina's head coach, Lionel Scaloni, has indicated that it is premature to make any official declarations regarding this matter.

Scaloni, who led Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar, elaborated on the 37-year-old, record eight-time Ballon d'Or winner's intention to remain part of the national team.

"The first point to emphasize is that both he and his teammates recognize that there is still a considerable amount of time remaining, and they are all eager to compete in the World Cup," Scaloni stated during an interview with DSPORTS.

"We will need to observe how the situation unfolds. He (Messi) is aware of our thoughts, and he possesses a remarkable intelligence," the coach further remarked.
