Argentina's legendary player Lionel Messi issued a statement following his exclusion from the national team roster for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South American opponents Uruguay and Brazil. Messi has been diagnosed with a "low-grade" adductor injury, as confirmed by his club, Inter Miami. The 37-year-old experienced discomfort during Inter Miami's 2-1 victory over Atlanta United, where he netted the opening goal. His season in the United States has been inconsistent, marked by ongoing fitness issues. This month, he missed three matches but made a comeback on Thursday for the second leg of the round-of-16 CONCACAF Champions Cup against Cavalier SC. Unfortunately, this latest injury poses a significant setback for the Argentine squad.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or recipient shared an update on his Instagram story regarding his unavailability for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers during the international break.

“It’s disappointing to miss these two very important matches with the National Team against Uruguay and Brazil. As always, I wished to be present, but a minor injury at the last moment has compelled me to take a break before I can return to play,” Messi conveyed on his Instagram account.

He also pledged to support his team as a fan during the two significant matches.

"From this point forward, I will be cheering and supporting as just another fan. Vamos Argentina!" he concluded his statement.

As the reigning World Cup champions, Argentina has the opportunity to secure qualification for next year's tournament in their upcoming two matches.

They currently hold a five-point lead in the 10-team South American qualifying group ahead of their match against Uruguay in Montevideo.

Additionally, Argentina will be without the injured Roma striker Paulo Dybala and River Plate full-back Paulo Montiel. Coach Lionel Scaloni has also excluded Alejandro Garnacho and Claudio Echeverri from the larger squad announced on March 2.
