It seems like genetics might be on Lionel Messi’s side with his oldest son, Thiago, who's 12. He’s currently in the academy at Inter Miami, where his dad plays for the senior team in MLS.

Recently, Thiago shone bright during the U-13 MLS Cup, putting on an incredible performance in a 12-0 victory against Atlanta United. He kicked things off by scoring just 12 minutes in and netted four more goals before halftime. By the end of the match, he had racked up an impressive 11 goals.

Thiago, just like his dad, rocks the number 11 jersey for his team. Born on November 2, 2012, he has two brothers as well. His parents, Antonela Roccuzzo and his dad, went public with their relationship back in 2009.

On another note, Indian fans are in for a treat as Messi is set to visit this year. Kerala’s sports minister, V Abdurahiman, mentioned at an event in Kozhikode that Messi will be in Kerala from October 25 to November 2. Besides a friendly match, he’ll also spend twenty minutes on a public stage to connect with fans.

Messi has visited India once before for an international friendly. Now, he’s enjoying the final chapter of his career in MLS. With eight Ballon d’Ors and eight FIFA Best Player awards under his belt, he’s the most decorated player in professional football history, racking up 45 team trophies, including twelve from the Big Five leagues, four Champions Leagues, two Copa Americas, and one World Cup.

He led Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, beating France in a nail-biting penalty shootout. He’s expected to captain the team again in 2026 as they aim to defend their title, and there are whispers he might retire after that.
