India, March 16 -- Lewis Hamilton experienced a challenging debut with Ferrari, finishing in 10th place at the Australian Grand Prix and securing the last point available. His qualifying performance was also subpar, as he managed to secure only the eighth position.

In a race characterized by unpredictable weather, numerous crashes, a late downpour, and the deployment of Safety Cars, McLaren's Lando Norris emerged victorious in Melbourne. Red Bull's Max Verstappen claimed second place, while Mercedes' George Russell rounded out the podium in third.

Hamilton's unexpected transition to Ferrari followed the conclusion of the previous season, marking the end of his long-standing partnership with Mercedes. However, his first significant test did not unfold as anticipated, as Ferrari's strategy faltered. The decision to remain on slick tires during the rain initially placed him in contention for a podium finish, but ultimately, he struggled to secure a points-scoring position.

In his post-race remarks, Hamilton expressed disappointment regarding his Ferrari debut and critiqued the car's performance. "It was very tricky and went a lot worse than I anticipated," he stated during an interview with Sky Sports F1.

"The car was extremely difficult to handle today. I am just thankful that I managed to avoid crashing, as it often felt like that was where it wanted to go."

He acknowledged the need to adapt to the new power unit under wet conditions, noting that it requires different settings, driving techniques, and steering wheel configurations.

Additionally, Hamilton encountered a moment of controversy when he was seen expressing frustration towards his new race engineer, Riccardo Adami, during the race. However, following the event, he praised Adami's efforts, stating, "I believe Riccardo did a commendable job. We are gradually learning about each other. After this, we will review everything, including my comments and his. Generally, I prefer not to receive excessive information during the race unless I request it. He did his best today, and we will progress from here."
