Emerging football talent Lamine Yamal had the opportunity to meet WWE superstars Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, and Triple H during the Friday night Smackdown event in Barcelona. Following his significant contribution to Barcelona's 3-1 victory over Benfica in the UEFA Champions League, Yamal took a break to attend the WWE Smackdown, accompanied by his teammates Alejandro Balde and Hector Fort.
Backstage, Yamal interacted with the WWE stars, and Rhodes presented him with the WWE Championship belt, allowing the 17-year-old to pose with the prestigious title. The atmosphere in Barcelona was electric, contributing to a successful WWE event as the organization gears up for WrestleMania. Yamal also captured a memorable moment on his phone when Orton performed an RKO on Carmelo Hayes.
Triple H also posted with Yamal on social media and wrote, “The future of @FCBarcelona is brighter than ever…enjoy the show, Lamine.”
In the match against Benfica, Yamal proved to be a formidable presence, scoring his first goal in seven appearances, a moment that was certainly worth the anticipation. The 17-year-old skillfully maneuvered in from the right, delivering a stunning shot that curved past Anatoliy Trubin and found the net at the far post from the edge of the penalty area.
Additionally, he showcased his talent by leaving a Benfica defender on the ground while providing an exceptional assist to Raphinha, which marked the opening goal for Barcelona.
"His goal was remarkable; it exemplifies what Lamine is all about—he is an extraordinary player with exceptional talent," Raphinha remarked.
Barcelona's manager, Hansi Flick, expressed his relief at Yamal's return to the scoresheet during this pivotal match.
“Lamine had gone without a goal for quite some time—six games and over a month—so he is delighted, as it was a crucial goal for us, a brilliant contribution. We are all pleased for him because he is a wonderful young man and an outstanding player,” Flick stated following the 4-1 victory over Benfica.
