India, Dec. 23 -- Kylian Mbappe shut down his critics with an incredible goal against Sevilla during the LaLiga match on Sunday night. The French striker, who has faced scrutiny since joining Real Madrid, delivered a standout performance in his final game of the year. He kicked things off for Madrid with a breathtaking goal from outside the box in their 4-2 victory. He also set up Brahim Diaz for the fourth goal at Santiago Bernabeu.

Having just turned 26 on Friday, Mbappe had one of his best performances in a Real Madrid shirt against Sevilla since joining the team. Before the match, Madrid's manager Carlo Ancelotti mentioned that Mbappe's adjustment period was over, and his performance certainly backed that up.

"His adaptation period is over. He has already shown a good version of himself and could still improve," the Italian coach shared with reporters on Saturday.

In the 10th minute, Mbappe opened the scoring as Madrid transitioned the ball from the back and found Rodrygo on the left side.

Rodrygo then passed it to Mbappe at the edge of the box, who took a touch to control it, another to position himself, and with his third touch, unleashed a powerful shot that left Alvaro Fernandez with no chance. That marked Mbappe's 14th goal of the season across all competitions.

Just 10 minutes later, Federico Valverde extended the reigning champions' lead with a long-range strike. Then, in the 34th minute, Rodrygo added the third goal after receiving a cross from Lucas Vazquez.

The French forward faced some backlash earlier this month for missing penalties against Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao.

Before that, Mbappe played a key role in leading Real Madrid to victory in the Intercontinental Cup, scoring in their 3-0 triumph over Pachuca. The 25-year-old had raised some concerns about his fitness after dealing with a thigh injury during last week's Champions League match against Atalanta. Although he sat out Saturday's 3-3 draw with Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga, he was cleared to make the trip to Qatar.
