‘When Virat is at the other end…’: Krunal Pandya

During the post-match ceremony, Krunal expressed how batting alongside Kohli helped him get into the game comfortably. “I’m pleased that I fulfilled my role. When Virat is at the other end, it becomes quite simple. The first 20 balls were challenging for me. But he kept encouraging me. Then I regained my rhythm. So, a lot of credit goes to Virat,” he mentioned.

Additionally, Krunal acknowledged that his team possesses numerous big-hitters in their lineup, making it easier to overpower any bowling attack. “It is always satisfying to see the results. Sometimes when you have put in the hard work behind the scenes, it feels rewarding when it pays off. It is quite gratifying. My role was straightforward. If we lose three early wickets, I can step in and ensure we build a partnership. We have exceptional power hitters like David, Jitesh, and Shepherd. We can dismantle the bowling,” he noted.

The partnership between Virat Kohli and Krunal resulted in a remarkable 119 runs, marking the highest for RCB for any wicket and also the highest for the fourth wicket or lower by any team in IPL 2025.

It appeared that Kohli and Krunal were set to complete the run-chase for RCB. However, Dushmantha Chameera claimed Kohli's wicket in the 18th over, but it was too late, as David's entry increased the offensive power. Facing Mukesh Kumar in the 19th over, David commenced with a six and subsequently hit a four, also benefiting from a no-ball. He then struck another four before concluding the match with a boundary.
