Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, is gearing up to play his first Ranji Trophy match in over a decade. The right-handed batsman will represent Delhi in the upcoming game against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Initially, it was announced that there would be no live coverage for this match, leaving fans without a way to watch it on TV or online. But the BCCI has made a significant update to the broadcast plans.

Around 10,000 fans are expected to witness Kohli's return to domestic cricket, and the DDCA has already made free tickets available for attendees.

The match between Delhi and Railways will now be streamed live on JioCinema, thanks to the BCCI's decision to ensure fans can catch Kohli's Ranji Trophy comeback.

It's still unclear if the game will be shown on live TV, but more information is anticipated by tomorrow, January 29.

"A decision has been made, and JioCinema will live stream the match. So all the Virat Kohli fans outside Delhi can relax; they can watch their favorite player live," a BCCI official shared with PTI.

Virat Kohli's comeback prompts BCCI to switch things up at the last minute

In the Ranji Trophy, the BCCI usually picks one standout match to broadcast on TV and a streaming platform. Coming up on January 30, the spotlight will be on the clash between Karnataka and Haryana, featuring the star player KL Rahul.

There were also two other matches that were initially set to be streamed live: Punjab vs Bengal at Eden Gardens and Baroda vs Jammu and Kashmir in Baroda.

The schedule was laid out well ahead of time, and there were no intentions to stream the Delhi vs Railways match. But with Virat Kohli joining the mix, the BCCI has changed its plans.

Kohli hasn't played in the Ranji Trophy since 2012. On Tuesday, he was seen training with the Delhi squad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, putting in some serious work during a lengthy nets session.

He focused on backfoot shots against fast bowlers and even faced some left-arm spinners, who have been a bit tricky for him lately.

Kohli just wrapped up a tough tour in Australia, where he only scored 190 runs in 9 innings, despite starting strong with a century in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener in Perth.
