Kohli's Dismissal Sparks Manjrekar's Criticism: A Call for Technical Adaptation

Virat Kohli may have alleviated some pressure by achieving his 30th Test century in Perth against Australia. Nevertheless, his persistent challenge of playing deliveries outside the off stump remains unresolved, leading to his dismissal once more during the second innings of the Adelaide Test. Kohli's innings, which lasted 21 balls, concluded when he chased a wide ball delivered by Scott Boland.
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has analyzed a significant technical issue in Kohli's batting, asserting that the seasoned player has yet to find a lasting remedy.
The 36-year-old Kohli returned to the dressing room after scoring a mere 11 runs. In the first innings, he struggled against a rising delivery, managing only seven runs before being dismissed.
"I do not hold strong opinions regarding Virat Kohli. I merely state the truths and facts that are evident to me. This is something I have previously mentioned," Manjrekar remarked to ESPNCricinfo.
"The technique he has adopted to address the deliveries outside the off stump and the swinging ball has not significantly eased his challenges," he further noted.
'Kohli can't find a solution'
Manjrekar expressed his belief that after scoring a century in Perth, Kohli would be able to position himself more effectively; however, this has not materialized. Consequently, the former Indian cricketer concluded that Kohli struggles to handle deliveries pitched outside the off stump.
"After he achieved a century in the previous match, I thought, let’s see if the lack of runs was influencing the errors he was making. With that burden lifted, one would expect Virat Kohli to exhibit greater composure and improved form," Manjrekar remarked.
"However, it is evident that earlier issues related to a lack of runs and technical difficulties persist. Despite scoring a century, he continued to be challenged by the same line of delivery, indicating a significant technical flaw that he has yet to resolve," he continued.
Kohli faced difficulties in the first innings of the Perth Test, where he struggled with the bounce of a delivery from Josh Hazlewood, resulting in his dismissal for just five runs. Nevertheless, he redeemed himself in the second innings with an unbeaten score of 100, yet similar issues resurfaced during the Adelaide Test.
