Kohli Unleashes Anger, Reenacts Dravid’s Rage as Dayal and Sharma Clash
8 days ago | 5 Views
Virat Kohli displayed his frustration by tossing his cap in anger after observing his teammates make a significant error that allowed Suryakumar Yadav to continue his innings during the intense match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Although the outcome favored RCB, Kohli's emotions were heightened when Yash Dayal and Jitesh Sharma failed to secure a catch.
The incident occurred on the second ball of the 12th over when Dayal bowled a slower delivery in an attempt to deceive Suryakumar. While he succeeded in getting an edge, he could not claim the wicket. The ball soared into the air, and both Dayal and wicketkeeper Jitesh attempted to catch it. Unfortunately, they collided due to a lack of communication, allowing Suryakumar Yadav to remain at the crease. Kohli, who was observing the situation closely, was visibly upset by the mishap and reacted by throwing his cap to the ground.
The video gained widespread attention on social media, prompting some fans to draw parallels between Kohli's gesture and that of Rahul Dravid, who had previously tossed his cap during his tenure as coach of the Rajasthan Royals. This incident occurred in 2014, marking a rare moment when Dravid displayed frustration after his team was eliminated from the playoffs by the Mumbai Indians in just 14.4 overs.
Yash Dayal redeems himself to dismiss SKY
In the final delivery of the over, Dayal quickly redeemed himself by outsmarting Surya, with Liam Livingstone successfully taking a straightforward catch. Surya had an off day at the crease, scoring 28 runs off 26 balls, which hindered MI's ambitious chase at Wankhede Stadium.
Rajat Patidar, who scored 64 runs off 32 balls, was awarded Player of the Match following his team's narrow 12-run victory. He attributed this honor to his bowling team for effectively managing a formidable batting lineup in the favorable batting conditions of Mumbai.
“That was an incredible match. The bowlers displayed remarkable courage, which was impressive. Honestly, this award belongs to the bowling unit, as it is quite challenging to contain a batting lineup on this ground, so they deserve the recognition. The execution of plans by the fast bowlers was commendable. Krunal's performance was outstanding. Bowling in the last over was no easy task, and I believe his execution and bravery were exceptional,” Patidar remarked during the post-match presentation.
