Recently, India's senior batsman Virat Kohli was involved in an incident with Australia's debutant Sam Konstas during the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, which resulted in sanctions from the ICC for Kohli's actions. Nevertheless, Kohli has since moved past the incident, as he was seen celebrating the New Year with Sam's brothers at a gathering hosted by Australia's Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.

This event took place on January 1 as part of the Glenn McGrath Foundation's festivities leading up to the fifth Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Players from both the Australian and Indian teams attended the event, despite their intense on-field rivalries.

After the gathering, Konstas' brothers shared photographs of their meeting with Kohli. Their Instagram post read: "Happy New Year! Thanks to Prime Minister Mr Albanese for his hospitality as well as celebrating the McGrath Foundation." They also had the opportunity to meet Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

What transpired between Konstas and Kohli?

On the first day of the Melbourne Test, a notable occurrence unfolded in world cricket as Konstas outperformed Jasprit Bumrah. In a deliberate act, Kohli made contact with the shoulder of the 19-year-old player. As the batter was moving towards the opposite end of the crease at the conclusion of the 10th over of the initial session, Kohli approached from well outside the pitch and collided with Konstas. The two players quickly exchanged remarks before the on-field umpire intervened.

Subsequently, Kohli faced a penalty of 20 per cent of his match fees and received one demerit point for violating the ICC's Code of Conduct.

Additionally, the Australian opener was involved in a separate incident with Bumrah, where he incited the crowd after hitting a ramp shot for six. Later, when Bumrah managed to dismiss him in the second innings, he mimicked Konstas's earlier actions.
