Virat Kohli, a prominent player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, met with Ishant Sharma before the significant match against Gujarat Titans at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Kohli has a unique relationship with the experienced Indian fast bowler, who has transitioned his IPL career to Gujarat this season. Both players rose to prominence in Indian cricket around the same time, with Ishant making his debut first, followed by Kohli a year later. They have also played together in domestic cricket for Delhi, starting from their youth through to the senior level.

Before their on-field encounter, the two childhood friends embraced warmly, and images of this moment quickly spread across the internet.

In the previous season of the IPL, the two Indian cricket icons faced off, with Ishant emerging victorious in his duel against Kohli. Their encounter included a lighthearted exchange on the field when Kohli was dismissed for 27 runs off 13 balls. Ishant approached him and playfully nudged him with his body, to which Kohli responded with a smile while Ishant celebrated his wicket.

On Wednesday, the two players did not face off as Kohli was dismissed early in the second over by Arshad Khan, scoring only 7 runs. Meanwhile, Ishant added to his wicket tally by getting rid of the in-form RCB captain, Rajat Patidar, who managed just 12 runs.

Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first, with the Gujarat Titans making one change by bringing in Arshad Khan to replace Kagiso Rabada.

At the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar announced that they would field the same playing XI that participated in their previous match.

"I would have opted to bowl first as well due to the new surface. It is quite firm and is unlikely to change significantly. The contributions from the players instill a great deal of confidence in me as a captain. We cherish this crowd; their support and enthusiasm for us are truly remarkable. We are sticking with the same team," Rajat Patidar stated.
