Kavya Maran's Moment of Joy Turns to Anger as Harshal Patel Drops Jadeja
11 days ago | 5 Views
Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran's festivities transformed into disappointment within seconds after Harshal Patel missed an easy catch from Ravindra Jadeja. With the final ball of the 7th over in the Chennai Super Kings innings, Jadeja attempted a big shot against SRH leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari, but the CSK all-rounder misjudged the full-length delivery and ended up sending it high into the sky.
Harshal Patel, positioned at long off, had ample time to position himself correctly beneath it. He accomplished that, however, as soon as the ball made contact with his glove, it slipped out. Kavya Maran, seated in the Chidambaram stands, had already begun to celebrate, anticipating that the catch would be secured, but when she witnessed the ball fall from Patel's grip, her joy shifted to a mix of anger and despair.
CSK vs SRH Live Score
Kavya Maran is no stranger to letting her emotions flow during an SRH match. One glance at her during a match would give one a good idea of SRH's position.
Kavya, however, had plenty of reasons to cheer on Friday. Harshal Patel's drop catch didn't cost SRH much as Jadeja was dismissed for 21 by Kamindu Mendis, who also buried the disappointment of Patel's drop catch by taking a scintillating diving catch to send back Dewald Brevis for 42.
Harshal himself brought smiles to Kavya's face by taking four wickets for just 28 runs in four overs.
Harshal Patel stars as SRH stop CSK at 154
Sent in to bat, CSK experienced a terrible start as they lost Shaik Rasheed on the very first ball bowled by Shami, who was caught by Abhishek Sharma at first slip. It was an ideal Test match delivery, pitched on a length outside off, moving away just as the batter poked at it.
However, young Ayush Mhatre (30 off 19) was going strong, effortlessly hitting boundaries with his aggressive batting against Shami, SRH captain Pat Cummins, and Unadkat.
The next CSK wicket to fall was Sam Curran, who top-edged a delivery from Harshal Patel to Aniket Verma at deep midwicket.
More pain awaited CSK when a set Mhatre was caught by Ishan Kishan off Cummins in the sixth over, as the hosts managed only 50 for 3 during the powerplay on a sluggish pitch.
In the seventh over, Patel dropped an easy catch off Zeeshan Ansari, giving Ravindra Jadeja (21) a second chance, which he capitalized on by striking Ansari for a massive six over long on.
However, Jadeja's innings was cut short by Kamindu Mendis, who bowled him out shortly thereafter.
At the halfway point, CSK had reached 76 for four in 10 overs.
Nevertheless, Shivam Dube (12 off 9) and Brevis (42 off 25) had different ideas, taking the game to the opposition with their explosive hitting.
While Dube hit Shami for two elegant boundaries through the covers in the 11th over, Brevis hammered Mendis for three sixes in the following over to maintain the run rate.
Brought into the team, Brevis was in a destructive mood, smacking Patel for another six before he was dismissed, caught by Mendis at long off.
However, CSK lost wickets in quick succession as Dube was caught by Abhishek at long on off Unadkat in the next over.
Dhoni came in for his 400th T20 match, but he too could not spark CSK's innings as the veteran batter edged a Patel delivery directly to Abhishek at point.
Towards the conclusion, Hooda made a significant effort to boost the innings and succeeded in pushing CSK past the 150-run mark.
