A week ago, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for just one run in the opening over, contributing to Sunrisers Hyderabad's fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. This incident led to franchise co-owner Kavya Maran expressing her frustration, which quickly gained traction on social media. However, on Saturday, the star batsman managed to bring joy to her face by delivering one of the most remarkable innings in IPL history, enabling SRH to end their losing streak.

Abhishek smashed 10 sixes and 14 fours, achieving his first IPL century and setting a record for the highest score by an Indian player in the league's history. This performance marked the third-highest individual score in IPL history, following Chris Gayle's unbeaten 175 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013 and Brendon McCullum's unbeaten 158 for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008.

As Abhishek reached the century mark, signaling his return to form in IPL 2025, Kavya leaped from her seat in celebration. In a heartwarming gesture, she made her way to the stands to greet and embrace the 24-year-old's parents, who were present at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, to acknowledge their son's extraordinary achievement.

'It's not easy for any player...'

Abhishek faced a challenging beginning to the season, accumulating only 51 runs across his first five matches. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude towards captain Pat Cummins and the SRH management for their support, as well as his mentor Yuvraj Singh and India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav for their ongoing communication during this difficult period.

"It is not easy for any player to endure such a slump in form. I want to particularly acknowledge the team and the captain for their straightforward message to the batters, even when I was struggling. I had a conversation with Travis, and it turned out to be a significant day for both of us," he remarked after receiving the Player of the Match award. "I also want to give special thanks to Yuvi (paaji); I have been in regular contact with him, and I appreciate Suryakumar Yadav for his support as well. He has been there for me throughout."
