Pat Cummins' SunRisers Hyderabad faced their fourth consecutive defeat in IPL 2025 on Sunday, as the Gujarat Titans successfully chased down a target of 153 runs with seven wickets remaining and 20 balls to spare. This marks the fourth straight instance where the highly anticipated SunRisers Hyderabad batting order failed to meet expectations, resulting in a subpar score. Even SRH owner Kavya Maran expressed her dissatisfaction with the batting display, which was evident when opening batsman Abhishek Sharma was dismissed.

On the fourth delivery of the fifth over, Siraj delivered a well-placed ball, prompting Abhishek Sharma to attempt an aerial shot. He lifted the ball towards mid-on but failed to connect properly, allowing Rahul Tewatia to take an easy catch. Abhishek Sharma departed after scoring 18 runs off 16 balls, which included four boundaries.

Following Sharma's dismissal, the cameras shifted to Kavya Maran in the stands, where her expression conveyed her discontent with his shot selection. She was later seen making hand gestures that clearly indicated her frustration with the unfolding situation on the field.

Soon after Abhishek's wicket, Ishan Kishan also departed to the hut after scoring 17 runs off 14 balls.

Gujarat Titans register a comfortable victory

The Gujarat Titans, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, achieved their third consecutive victory by defeating SunRisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in Match No. 19 of the 18th season of the lucrative league.

Gill and Sherfane Rutherford finished the match not out, scoring 61 and 35 runs, respectively, as the Titans comfortably chased down a target of 153 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Pat Cummins and Mohammed Shami made a strong start with the ball, quickly removing Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. However, a series of loose deliveries during the middle overs ultimately cost the home team the match.

As a result of this defeat, SunRisers Hyderabad has fallen to the bottom of the standings, accumulating only 2 points from five matches. The 2024 finalists are set to face Punjab Kings next on Saturday, April 12.
