Karun Nair made a remarkable comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the match against the Mumbai Indians, where he scored an impressive 89 runs off just 40 balls. This marked his first appearance in the league in three years. However, the seasoned batsman, who is aiming for a return to the Indian team for the upcoming tour of England, could not maintain his form in the subsequent match against the Rajasthan Royals, where he was dismissed for a duck after facing only three balls due to an unfortunate run out.

The incident occurred on the first delivery of the fourth over when Sandeep Sharma bowled a length ball that angled into Abhishek Porel from around the wicket. Porel managed to get an inside edge on his pull shot, causing the ball to roll towards the point area. He quickly called for a single but then changed his mind, leaving Nair, who was at the non-striker's end, stranded midway down the pitch.

Dhruv Jurel, positioned at point, retrieved the ball and threw it to the non-striker's end, where Sandeep casually caught it and tossed it back at the stumps. The on-field umpire referred the decision to the third umpire, and the replay revealed that Nair was mere millimeters short of reaching the crease in time.

Nair's innings concluded with a three-ball duck, and footage later captured him visibly frustrated, nearly striking out in anger in the dressing room following his dismissal.

Delhi looking to get back to winning ways

Delhi’s juggernaut was halted in the match against Mumbai Indians, who handed them a reality check at home, thus ending their winning start to the season. The Axar Patel-led side had won all their first four matches, before losing in their homecoming to Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Rajasthan, on the other hand, have managed just two wins in six matches so far this season. They lost both their previous two matches—against RCB in Jaipur and Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
