Virat Kohli and Steve Smith exhibited a commendable display of mutual respect and sportsmanship following the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final, in which India triumphed over Australia by four wickets. After India's victory was secured, Kohli and Smith, both members of the renowned 'fab four', were observed sharing a heartfelt moment on the field. This interaction has since gained significant attention on social media.

The atmosphere turned celebratory as KL Rahul struck the winning six off Glenn Maxwell's delivery, prompting jubilant reactions from the entire Indian team. KL Rahul expressed his excitement vocally, while seasoned players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma embraced in celebration.

However, the spotlight quickly shifted to the interaction between Steve Smith and Virat Kohli, who began by shaking hands on the pitch. The two then shared a hug, with Smith notably placing his hands on Kohli's chest, a gesture that reflected his admiration for the 'chase master' Kohli, who once again played a pivotal role in leading India to victory.

Kohli also shared a warm embrace with Glenn Maxwell, his former teammate from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The two engaged in a brief conversation before proceeding to shake hands with other players.

Both Kohli and Smith performed admirably during the match. Nevertheless, it was Kohli's performance that ultimately surpassed that of Smith and the Australian team. The 36-year-old was named Player of the Match for his innings of 84 runs from 98 balls, leading India to successfully chase down the target of 265 with four wickets remaining and 11 balls to spare.

Who will India face in the final?

This marks India's third consecutive appearance in the Champions Trophy, as the team now awaits the outcome of the semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand, scheduled to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

India previously secured the Champions Trophy title in 2013 and reached the final in the 2017 edition, where they were ultimately defeated by Pakistan at The Oval in London.

In the semi-final match against Australia, the latter won the toss and chose to bat first. Mohammed Shami excelled with the ball, claiming three wickets as Australia was dismissed for 264 runs in 49.3 overs.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed significantly, each taking two wickets. Steve Smith emerged as Australia's leading run-scorer with a total of 79 runs, while Alex Carey added 61 runs to the scoreboard.

India successfully chased down the target with ease, thanks to notable performances from Virat Kohli (84 runs), Shreyas Iyer (45 runs), and KL Rahul (42 not out), who maintained composure under pressure.
