KL Rahul was determined during the match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He displayed the same intensity against the Lucknow Super Giants. If the IPL were akin to a Bollywood film, KL Rahul would certainly be the lead character in revenge narratives. Revenge carries significant weight in sports. Rahul's demeanor and expressions, corroborated by his scoring, offered ample evidence that he aimed to deliver a message to his previous teams.

Following the match against RCB, Rahul struck his bat on the ground and created a circle with it. He later explained that this action symbolized his declaration that the Chinnaswamy Stadium belonged to him, regardless of which team he was playing for in the IPL.

In the game against LSG, the franchise that let him go before last year’s mega auction after a public disagreement with owner Sanjiv Goenka, Rahul pointed to the back of his jersey, which displayed his name and No. 1. Naturally, Rahul was the inaugural pick of LSG when they joined the IPL three years prior. He captained the team for three seasons without notable success and was released last year, but not before Goenka had a lively discussion with him on the sidelines following their loss to SRH.

DC acquired Rahul for Rs 14 crore, and the right-hand batsman has transformed his performance in this IPL. Rahul scored an unbeaten 57 to lead DC to victory over LSG by 8 wickets, with 13 balls remaining. This marked his third half-century of the season. In doing so, Rahul became the fastest player to reach 5000 runs in the IPL, accomplishing this in 130 innings, surpassing former Australian opener David Warner’s record of 135. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s batting star Virat Kohli dropped to third place on the list, having achieved the milestone in 157 innings.

Overall, he became the eighth player to join the 5000-run club in the tournament, following Virat (8,326), Rohit (6,786), Shikhar Dhawan (6,769), Warner (6,565), Suresh Raina (5,528), MS Dhoni (5,377), and AB de Villiers (5,162). In the IPL, Rahul has an impressive tally of 5,006 runs in 139 matches at an outstanding average of 46. 35, featuring 40 fifties and four centuries.

Once Rahul reached his fifty, he lifted his bat to the audience, where Goenka was also seated with his son, and pointed to the back of his jersey displaying No. 1. Notably, Goenka wears No. 1 on his LSG jersey.

That was not the initial occasion when Goenka and Rahul's visuals became widely popular. When Rahul sprinted down the pitch to score a six off Aiden Markram, the cameras shifted to the LSG owner, who wore a sly smile on his face.

Following the match, Goenka and his son Shashwat extended their hands to shake Rahul's and attempted to engage him in conversation, but Rahul was not inclined for a chat. He moved on after ignoring the Goenka pair.
