KKR Troll Travis Head After Another IPL Flop Show Against Kolkata

In the realm of cricketers who occupy a prominent place in the minds of Indian cricket enthusiasts, it is safe to assert that Travis Head ranks among the top contenders. The Australian opener has consistently caused significant distress to India across various formats, leaving a lasting impact in recent times. He nearly single-handedly denied India two ICC titles by delivering explosive centuries in the World Test Championship final in 2023 and the ODI World Cup final later that same year. His presence has been a persistent challenge for India, particularly during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, one Indian franchise has successfully managed to contain him. The Kolkata Knight Riders have achieved what very few teams worldwide have managed: preventing Travis Head from scoring.
In his last three encounters against KKR, Head's scores were 0 off 2 balls, 0 off 4 balls, and 4 off 2 balls. During the IPL Qualifier 1 of IPL 2024, he was dismissed by his Australian teammate Mitchell Starc, a bowler who has troubled him significantly. A few nights later, Vaibhav Arora dismissed Head for a four-ball duck in the IPL final, and the same bowler sent him back to the dressing room again on April 3, 2025, during an IPL 2025 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
KKR's social media team did not shy away from highlighting Head's difficulties. They shared a post on X that documented his struggles, captioned: "Head-ing towards the business, right from the start."
The post elicited a variety of responses. Some praised the KKR bowlers for swiftly dismissing Head, while others criticized the team's social media management for mocking an opponent.
Vaibhav, Iyer shine in KKR's big win
In pursuit of 201 runs on a superb Eden Gardens pitch, Head began his innings with a fortunate boundary off his very first delivery. Although he lacked control, he managed to edge the ball over Harshit Rana at mid-off. Vaibhav maintained his strategy, delivering a similar full ball that moved away, prompting Head to shift his weight onto his front foot—a movement that does not come easily to the left-handed batsman. Once again, Head failed to make contact, and this time, the ball was within Rana's reach, who executed a fine tumbling catch.
Vaibhav thrived in front of his home supporters. In his subsequent over, a diving Rahane made a spectacular catch to dismiss Ishan Kishan at short extra cover. Vaibhav nearly claimed another wicket, but Andre Russell dropped an easy catch from IPL newcomer Kamindu Mendis before the Sri Lankan batsman could score.
Compounding SRH's difficulties, Abhishek Sharma's woes continued as he edged a catch to the slips off Harshit Rana’s slower delivery. Shortly after, Arora returned to dismiss top-scorer Heinrich Klaasen (33), concluding with impressive bowling figures.
Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy effectively restricted the middle order with their precise bowling in favorable home conditions, leading to a flurry of wickets for Hyderabad. Narine reached a milestone of 200 wickets for Kolkata in the IPL when Mendis was caught at mid-wicket after scoring 27 runs.
KKR bowled out SRH for 120 runs in just 16.4 overs, securing a resounding victory by 80 runs.
Earlier, Venkatesh Iyer achieved a rapid half-century off 25 balls, following Angkrish Raghuvanshi's impactful 50 runs off 32 balls, propelling KKR to a total of 200/6.
