Renowned Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has expressed high regard for Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, commending his exceptional performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah has emerged as the premier bowler in the series, playing a pivotal role in keeping India competitive throughout the first four Tests. At 31 years of age, he has delivered one of the most remarkable bowling displays by a fast bowler in a Test series, having already claimed 30 wickets across four matches. His presence on the field instils confidence in the Indian team, as they appear poised to secure wickets whenever he is bowling, regardless of whether the ball is new or old.

McGrath, a significant figure in Australia's illustrious Test cricket history, remarked that Bumrah has been instrumental in making India a formidable opponent in the series; without his contributions, the contest could have been decidedly unbalanced.

"He has been a crucial component of the Indian team, and in his absence, the series might have leaned heavily in favour of Australia. What he accomplishes is truly remarkable," McGrath stated to reporters during a cancer awareness event organized by his foundation.

Bumrah has consistently challenged the Australian batting order with his remarkable ability to swing the ball in both directions and his precision in maintaining the correct line and length to unsettle the batsmen.

The legendary Australian pacer also commented on Bumrah's unique bowling style, highlighting the extraordinary power he generates in his delivery.

"Bumrah exemplifies class, without a doubt. He is one of a kind. His bowling action is unconventional and not something one would typically teach a young bowler, yet he has successfully adapted it, showcasing his incredible talent. The way he accelerates in those final strides and drives through the crease is impressive. He possesses a slight hyperextension, similar to what I experienced, and he manages it exceptionally well. His control over the ball in both directions is simply remarkable," McGrath added.

McGrath, an ardent admirer of Bumrah, commended the Indian management for their effective handling of the player in recent times.

"It appears they are managing him well. His statistics are remarkable. Therefore, I am indeed a great fan of Jasprit. I had the opportunity to meet him when he was younger, and his development since then is truly impressive," remarked the tall former bowler, affectionately known as 'Pigeon' by his teammates due to his slender legs.

In the meantime, the 31-year-old will play a pivotal role in India's quest to secure victory in the Sydney Test and successfully defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy once more.
