Allan Border, regarded as one of the greatest cricketers in Australian history, has expressed his support for Jasprit Bumrah as a prospective future captain for India. This endorsement follows Bumrah's commendable leadership during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in Perth. Having captained India for the first time in the rescheduled Test against England in 2022, Bumrah led his team to a remarkable 295-run victory over Australia at Optus Stadium.

In an interview with The Times of India, Border praised Bumrah's captaincy, emphasizing his astute decision-making and strategic insight.

"He will (Bumrah) perform exceptionally well. In Perth, he utilized his resources effectively. From a captaincy perspective, the way he organized the field placements was impeccable," Border remarked.

Bumrah's leadership was particularly highlighted by his adept management of his bowling and his strategic field placements, both of which played a crucial role in India's success.

Throughout the series, Bumrah has showcased outstanding performance with the ball, emerging as the leading wicket-taker thus far. With a total of 21 wickets across three Tests, including a pivotal six-wicket haul in Brisbane, Bumrah has consistently exhibited his exceptional talent.

Border also pointed out that Bumrah's distinctive bowling technique significantly contributed to his achievements. "Bumrah is currently at the pinnacle of his game. His wrist action and release points set him apart from other bowlers. Due to that hyperextension, he releases the ball a foot further down the pitch than his peers. His unique shuffling run-up, combined with the snap of his wrists, is truly remarkable," Border stated.

Action shifts to the Boxing Day Test

The fourth Test is set to commence at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 26, with India aiming to stage a robust comeback in the series.

Bumrah has taken 21 wickets at an economy rate of 2.60, and his performance has been pivotal to India's competitive displays throughout the series thus far. The team will be optimistic that their leading bowler will once again rise to the occasion.
