Jasprit Bumrah Celebrates in Style After Dismissing Sam Konstas

Australia's 19-year-old Sam Konstas achieved an extraordinary feat in world cricket on the first day of the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Melbourne. The debutant displayed remarkable skill against one of the modern era's finest bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah, hitting him for several runs, including a daring ramp six. However, while Konstas initially triumphed, Bumrah quickly retaliated, securing an early wicket of the Australian on Sunday.

Bumrah did not permit Konstas to find his rhythm at the beginning of Australia's second innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He consistently challenged the young player, ultimately dismissing him on the third ball of the seventh over. The Indian fast bowler delivered a length ball at 139.7 km/h that seemed significant from the outside off. Caught off guard, Konstas was unable to defend as the ball slipped through and struck the top of the middle stump.

After the dismissal, Bumrah, in an unusual display of celebration, mimicked Konstas' earlier antics, encouraging the crowd, only to be met with boos from the home fans.

On the first day of the match, Konstas engaged in an aggressive display against Bumrah, showcasing his skills with two ramp shots while energizing the crowd. Bumrah's actions on Sunday were simply a reaction to this.

India bowled out for 369

India was dismissed for 369 early on Day 4, with centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy being the final wicket to fall. Consequently, Australia maintained a first-innings lead of 105 runs after Reddy was caught in the deep at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for 114, having achieved his maiden Test century late on Saturday. This score marked the highest Test total in Melbourne for any player batting at number eight or lower.

Mohammed Siraj remained not out on four runs. India faced merely 21 balls, adding 11 runs to their overnight total of 358-9.

All-rounder Reddy contributed an additional nine runs after the resumption before attempting to clear the boundary off Nathan Lyon, only to be caught by fielder Mitchell Starc at deep long-on.
