Jasprit Bumrah Begins Gym Training After Champions Trophy Withdrawal as India Pacer Focuses on 'Rebuilding' Efforts

Jasprit Bumrah may miss the forthcoming Champions Trophy, yet the distinguished Indian fast bowler is already focused on his recovery. Shortly after being excluded from the tournament, Bumrah provided a glimpse into his rehabilitation process by posting a gym photo accompanied by the caption: "rebuilding."
This post, shared on his Instagram account, rapidly garnered attention from fans, many of whom expressed their support for India's leading pace bowler. The absence of the 31-year-old represents a considerable setback for the Indian team, which will now depend on a relatively inexperienced bowling lineup. Harshit Rana has been appointed as his replacement in the squad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday evening that Jasprit Bumrah will not participate in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. The official statement indicated that Harshit Rana has been selected as Bumrah's replacement.
Bumrah has been sidelined since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia in Sydney last month, where he bowled only 10.1 overs in the first innings before experiencing back spasms that necessitated medical scans. Although he batted in the second innings, he did not return to bowl.
The Indian fast bowler was instrumental in the team's T20 World Cup victory last year, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.17 while taking 15 wickets across eight matches.
Harshit Rana, who will step in for Bumrah in the Champions Trophy, made his One Day International debut earlier this month during the series against England. He delivered commendable performances, securing six wickets in three matches, though with a slightly higher economy rate of 6.95.
India at Champions Trophy
The Champions Trophy, taking place from February 19 to March 9, will be co-hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. India will follow a hybrid model, competing in all its matches in Dubai. The highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for February 23, with India beginning its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. The final match in the group stage for India will be against New Zealand on March 2.
