Jason Gillespie had a controversial stint as Pakistan senior men’s team head coach. The former Aussie all-rounder took over as Test team coach in April 2025, but resigned months later in December, blaming the PCB for a lack of communication. Gillespie had taken over as interim white-ball coach after the resignation of Gary Kirsten.

In a recent interview with PakPassion, Gillespie made a shocking revelation, accusing the PCB of still owing him money.

‘Little bit disappointing’: Jason Gillespie

“Yes, I am currently awaiting some compensation for ongoing work, and I will address that matter in due time, he stated.

He acknowledged that the situation has been somewhat disappointing, but expressed hope that it would be resolved soon. He emphasized the importance of learning from the experience and reiterated his desire for a prompt resolution.

Following his resignation as head coach of Pakistan, he disclosed that this experience had diminished his passion for coaching. He criticized Aaqib Javed, labeling him as a clown who consistently undermined his authority during his time in the role.

In the wake of Gillespie's departure, a report from PTI indicated that he was excluded from significant decisions made by the PCB regarding the team. Additionally, the board chose not to renew the contract of high-performance coach Tim Nielsen, and the Test squad for the South Africa series was reportedly announced without his input. Kirsten faced similar issues during his own resignation.

Gillespie was a member of the Australian team that triumphed in the 2003 World Cup. He made his One Day International debut in 1996, as well as his Test debut in the same year. He also participated in the unofficial Indian Cricket League, playing for the Ahmedabad Rockets.

In a recent interview, Gillespie highlighted the complete lack of communication between himself and the PCB during his tenure as head coach. He pointed out that one significant issue was the absence of consultation, citing the appointment of Mohammad Rizwan as captain as an example of a decision made without discussion, which he believed disrupted team cohesion.
